Amphibious Boats NZ | Beach Launch
Access Any Shore. Launch from Anywhere.
Flyfin amphibious boats are hardtop aluminium fishing boats built for open water, with the Tectrax electric wheel system built into the hull. Designed and built in Papamoa Beach, every model in the range launches and retrieves from the shoreline with no ramp required. At the water’s edge, you simply drive in and lift the wheels, and you’re away.
No Boat Ramp Required
A beach launch boat reaches water conventional trailer boats can't: rocky shorelines, shallow beaches and remote river mouths.
Zero Compromise Design
The wheels retract once you're afloat, so the hull performs exactly as it was designed to, with the same offshore deep-V as every Flyfin.
Fully Electric
The Tectrax system is fully electric, with no hydraulic oil system, and a 48V lithium iron phosphate battery that recharges between trips.
Flyfin Amphibious Boat Models
Four models make up the range, each built from marine-grade 5083 aluminium to the same standard and scaled for a different kind of day on the water. Choose Yours in the tabs below.

Frequently Asked Questions
An amphibious boat is a boat with wheels built into the hull, so it can drive itself down a beach or shoreline and into the water, then retract the wheels once it's afloat. Flyfin amphibious boats use the Tectrax wheel system, so you can launch where there's no boat ramp at all.
At the water's edge, the Tectrax wheels lower and the boat drives itself down the shore and into the water under its own power. Once you're afloat, the wheels retract and the hull performs like any offshore boat. Coming home, the process is reversed.
A Tectrax amphibious boat is fitted with the Tectrax electric wheel system. Flyfin's 700HTA and 750HTA use the Tectrax T3000 Gen2, and the larger 820HTA and 850HTA use the heavier-duty Tectrax T4000 Gen2, with the Tectrax T5000 available as an option on the 850HTA.
The 700HTA (7m) is the most compact and easiest to tow, the 750HTA (7.5m) adds range and room for more power, the 820HTA (8.2m) is built for longer offshore runs, and the 850HTA (8.5m) is the wide-beam flagship with a 2.8m beam. Talk to the Flyfin team about how and where you'll use the boat.
No. Flyfin amphibious boats move between the shoreline and the water on their own wheels, but they aren't road-legal vehicles. For road travel, each boat goes on its custom-built Flyfin aluminium trailer.
The Tectrax wheel system is covered by a 3-year warranty, and the battery by a 10-year warranty.
